Powders and Spices for Optimum Health

I think it is so important to add additional nutrients, vitamins and minerals in your daily routine.

Mainly these do come from the meals we eat for example sweet potato which is so rich in Vitamin A as well as high in Vitamin B-6 , magnesium and potassium. But these powders are the nutritions and minerals in their most raw and potent form that will aid the bodies functions to perform and live to our best!

After adding these in my, already healthy diet, I have more energy and am able to keep healthy at optimum level (AKA no sick days needed from work- Literally!)

Dont stress about adding all of these straight away because it might not be what your body needs. Read below the benefits of each powder and if you feel like you could improve that area of your health then try it out! Small changes do make a big difference.

My personal Top Five are:

  • Cinnamon,
  • Matcha Powder
  • Ground Flaxseed
  • Wheatgrass
  • Spirulina

Matcha Green Tea Powder

I love having a match and wheatgrass shot in the morning with almond milk before I start making breakfast.

Matcha green tea powder has one of the highest level of antioxidants, and has many health benefits. I have briefly listed a few below:
  • Boost metabolism and burns calories.
  • Detoxifies effectively and naturally.
  • Calms and relaxes therefore reduces stress.
  • Enhances mood and helps concentration.
  • Lowers cholesterol and blood sugar levels.
One glass of Matcha is equivalent to 10 glasses of green tea in terms of its nutritional and antioxidant values.

Wheatgrass

There are so many minerals and vitamins in Wheatgrass as well as being a complete source of protein. It has more Vitamin A than carrots and more Vitamin C than carrots! Its full of Vitamin B, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, sodium and potassium. Overall a great addition for that extra health!

Ground Flaxseed

Another combo I cannot be without on my morning porridge is ground flaxseed and cinnamon.

Ground Flaxseed is great fibre to start the day and also full of antioxidants and Omega-3 fatty acids. The beauty is that it doesn't taste of anything (not in a bad way) in a way that you can add it to anything lie soups, smoothies, salads and porridge.

Cinnamon

This is my favourite spice. It is great for adding sweet taste but without the added sugar. It does also keep the sweet tooth at bay as it controls blood sugar levels. I add cinnamon to anything and everything (okay not everything), like smoothies, yogurt, cakes, baking and even egg dishes. Like nutmeg it is a great contrast with savoury dishes.

Did you know one teaspoon of cinnamon packs as much antioxidant potency as half a cup of blueberries!

Spirulina

I add Spirulina every few days to a meal, not daily like I do the wheatgrass and matcha. It is great to add to smoothies and juices to get your greens in! It is a natural algae powder- high in protein and nutrients. Some of its health benefits, include boosted immune system and digestion, increased endurance, detoxifier, and energy boosted.
