Superfood: Quinoa Flakes

© Photography by Clean Foodie Guide

Trying different types of superfood is so interesting. Experimenting with recipes and trying them out with new flavours is something I love to do. This is exactly what I have done today! I recently found a pack of quinoa flakes which I have not tried before.

Knowing how quinoa in its normal form is and having used it a lot in the past I found it a bit of a pain to prepare and and cook, so when I found this I was excited- all of the nutrition with none of the effort!!

The above photo I took was to show the close up of what the flakes look like and the texture! How pretty do the flakes look?!

Right so down to the important bit- how to use them!
I have two options that I have photographed but trust me there are many many more!
From adding them in salads, smoothies, as well as breakfasts (like I have done below!)

1) Quinoa Porridge

Instead of using all rolled oats use half oats and half quinoa flakes and then cooks as you    would normal porridge. I add to my porridge cinnamon, ground flaxseed, desiccated coconut, raisins, walnuts and almond milk.
The taste is different in a good way and you have a higher protein porridge!

2) Quinoa Breakfast Bowl

Use organic natural yogurt as the base add half quinoa flakes and half rolled oats with any dried fruit and nuts of your choice and tuck in! There is no cooking or preparation involved!! In this photograph I have added cinnamon walnuts and raisins.
