If you are like me and have a sweet tooth, want a treat but not the refined sugar and fat that is in most confectionary, this is the recipe for you! I am trying to experiment with new recipes that are quick simple with few ingredients.
These are grilled maple apple slices with cashews and are absolutely delicious!! You who what they say an apple a day keep the doctors away well if you insist....
Ingredients:
- 1 apple (Optional- I have added a peach also)
- Handful of cashews
- 2 tbsp pure maple syrup (no added sugar)
- Sprinkle of cinnamon
Instructions:
1) Cut the fruit into even segments (like an orange segment)
2) Add the fruit to a pan and turn to a low-medium heat and after a couple of minutes add the maple evenly over the fruit.
3) Every couple of minutes turn the fruit to each side turning to medium high heat and adding the cashews and add the cinnamon.
4) Grill the fruit and nuts until a caramelised coating has turned golden brown. Serve up and enjoy!!
Above photo is the first attempt at this recipe and below is the much more refined second attempt with added peach which worked well!!
Your turn to try and let me know how they turned out x
